1 May International Workers’ Day

1 May is a great excuse to work on professions in our English class.

For fantastic and funny flashcards of jobs go to: http://www.mes-english.com/flashcards/people.php to print off or show in Power point presentation form.

A simple song you can adapt to include many jobs.

Tune: Frère Jacques

Working hard. Working hard.

At my job. At my job.

I work as a (teacher, nurse, cleaner, doctor, etc). x 2

I work hard.

This was my favourite song about jobs when I was child.

You can just sing the chorus of the song inserting different jobs:

Oh, who are the people in your neighbourhood

In your neighbourhood

In your neighbourhood.

Oh, who are the people in your neighbourhood,

The people that you meet each day.

Oh, a doctor is a person in your neighbourhood,

In your neighbourhood, in your neighbourhood.

A doctor is a person in your neighbourhood,

A person that you meet each day.

Add verses with other people – teacher, police officer, chef, waiter, gardener, etc.
