Nutrition education

This is Jamie Oliver’s talk at TED about nutrition in the US and the world and about the need for education on this subject.

This is a really inspirational talk and a great example of multiple intelligences.  Jamie tells us at the end that he is dyslexic.  I wonder if some of his primary teachers ever thought they would see him giving a talk at TED all these years later and what a fine talk he gives!  He hasn’t let dyslexia stop him.  What a clever man and so down-to-earth! A real inspiration!

Also check out the Eat better. Do better! series on http://www.teachers.tv/series/eat-better-do-better There are five excellent videos to look at  the science behind healthy food and why what pupils eat is so important.

The songs and games on: http://www.dole.com/SuperKids/Music/tabid/845/Default.aspx are very popular with older children.  Sing about eating 5 fruit and veg per day with the Superkids Song. You can download all the songs for free!

      Dear Beverly,
      Thanks for your feedback.
Why not check the Mia Mango game on the same site? The children love it and can print off the recipe (in reasonably simple language) they have created at the end.
      Best wishes
      Vanessa
